Prairie Wind Parish is a the name given for the union of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Junction City, KS and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Abilene, KS formed in 2006 to exist as a church body served by one ordained minister joined by the ministers that we all are in our congregation, community, and families. We are united in the goal of sharing the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ while seeing that each local congregation maintains its own identity, integrity, and traditions of the past. Our mission statement is this: “We have benefited greatly from the gifts of God’s love, peace, and joy through Jesus. In grateful response, we seek to share these same gifts with others, inviting all people seeking meaning, purpose, and community to a new life in Christ.”
Both congregations of the parish are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Thus, we share mutual beliefs and confessions as expressed by the ELCA. You can find out more about these beliefs and worship practices at www.elca.org
Our worship services are grounded in Word and Sacrament. We gather to hear the Word of God proclaimed, to receive his Holy Sacraments, and for prayer and praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Radiating out from worship we go to serve in our homes, our community, and in ways that benefit the down trodden and build up each other in love.
